First documented reference on July 12, 1466; owned by the Ulrich Zimmermann family since 1757. Ulrich Beer was first served on July 8, 1911 at the St. Ulrich Festival in Berg. The beer specialty survived throughout the decades as a result of the annual St. Ulrich Festival.
Brewer and Graduate Master Brewer Uli Zimmermann, his wife Beate and their staff of 30 take joy and pride in brewing and selling 8 year-round beer specialties and 4 seasonal beer specialties:
- Ulrichsbier - DAS EINZIGARTIGE (THE UNIQUE), amber-golden beer specialty in the swing-stopper bottle
- Berg Hefe Weizen (Wheat Beer), barrel and bottle fermentation
- Berg Kristallweizen (Crystal Wheat Beer)
- Berg Hefe-Weizen dunkel (Dark Wheat Beer)
- Berg Original (Original Brew), “half” of the Berg trademark
- Berg Spezial (Berg Special)
- Berg Bräumeister Pils (Berg Master Brewer Pilsner)
- Schäfleshimmel, (“lamb’s heaven”) bottom-brewed bottle fermentation, brewed from organic hops and malt
Seasonally brewed specialties include Berg Märzen with 14.5 % original gravity, chestnut-brown Weihnachtsbier (Christmas beer), Sankt Ulrichsbock (bock beer) and Herbstgold (Autumn Gold).
The entire malting barley is bought directly from farmers, who cultivate their fields according to strict regulations in compliance with integrated/controlled cultivation methods. Berg Beer is available within the geographical borders of Reutlingen, Biberach, Saulgau, and Ulm.
